National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Delhi sentenced 18 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) to four-day detention.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Delhi sentenced 18 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) to four-day detention. The PFI leaders were earlier detained on Thursday at several locations throughout the nation as part of a multi-agency operation supervised by the NIA.

The 18 defendants were shown in NIA court while being heavily guarded. Everyone was brought before NIA Judge Shailendra Malik. They were given a four-day detention by the court. According to the sources, NIA, ED, and police forces jointly conducted various raids across 11 states, resulting in the arrest of over 106 PFI members.

The NIA said that 19 people had been arrested in relation to a FIR that had been filed in Delhi. In addition to the 18 defendants that appeared in court, one additional defendant from Karnataka is being placed on transit remand.

All of the accused, according to the NIA, will be housed at four different police stations. Furthermore, the NIA informed the court that due to the risk to national security, neither the FIR nor the copy of the arrest warrant will be released to the suspects.

“The investigation is in its early stages, so more remand may be required. The investigation is delicate, and additional persons are probably going to be named “said the NIA.

Earlier on Thursday, searches were carried out at 93 locations across 15 Indian states.
