Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das who was shot at by an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Jharsuguda district succumbed to injuries on Sunday.
Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das who was shot at by an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Jharsuguda district succumbed to injuries on Sunday.
The minister was brought to the hospital in critical condition, and the ASI who opened fire was arrested.
A criminal investigation has been launched regarding into the incident.
According to sources, at least four to five rounds of bullets were shot at the minister as he exited his vehicle. Das immediately slumped. A local teen and a police officer were also hit with bullets.
Das, who has represented the Jharsuguda Assembly constituency since 2009, was brought to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Jharsuguda, where he was treated by a special team of doctors. He was later flown to Bhubaneswar for further treatment.
