PM Modi arrives in Tokyo: All eyes on Quad summit tomorrow

On the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tokyo on Monday morning (local time) for the Quad meeting on May 24.
Prime Minister tweeted shortly after arriving in Tokyo, “I’ve arrived in Tokyo. During this visit, he will participate in a variety of activities, including the Quad Summit, meetings with fellow Quad leaders, and interactions with Japanese business leaders and the thriving Indian diaspora.”
PM Modi said on Sunday, ahead of his visit to Japan, that leaders will once again have the opportunity to discuss numerous projects and topics of mutual interest during the Quad summit.
Since their first virtual meeting in March 2021, in-person Summit in Washington, D.C. in September 2021, and virtual meeting in March 2022, the Quad Leaders have met four times.
The leaders will assess the status of Quad initiatives and Working Groups, suggest new areas for collaboration, and provide strategic direction and vision for future collaboration.
Meanwhile, the Indian community in Japan is preparing to greet Prime Minister Modi in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture.
Ramesh Kumar Pandey, secretary of the Bengali Indian community, told ANI that roughly 100-150 people will greet PM Modi today.
“PM Modi will be greeted by 100-150 persons. A programme will be held in front of the hotel where he will be staying. PM Modi has raised India’s international profile. In the context of Ukraine, everyone is looking to India these days “Pandey explained.
On Monday, Nobuhiro Endo, Chairman of NEC Corporation, Tadashi Yanai, President and CEO of UNIQLO, Osamu Suzuki, Adviser of Suzuki Motor Corporation, and Masayoshi Son, Board Director of Softbank Group Corporation will meet with Prime Minister Abe.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister will meet with US President Joe Biden in a bilateral meeting during his visit. The session will involve a “constructive and straightforward” exchange as well as an update on the situation in Ukraine.
