On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Deoghar, Jharkhand, to launch or inaugurate development projects worth Rs 16,835 crore, including the Rs 400-crore Deoghar airport.

Modi will also dedicate to the nation the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Deoghar, which cost Rs 1100 crore to build.

The Deoghar airport will provide direct access to Baidyanath Dham, a religious site visited by thousands of pilgrims from across the country each year. Next week marks the start of the annual Shravani Mela fair at Baidyanath Dham.

Modi will also pray at “Baba Dham,” according to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who represents the Godda Lok Sabha seat, which includes Deoghar. “PM Modi will also hold his longest-ever roadshow in the district, covering 11.5 kilometres, and will later address a jan sabha,” the state BJP said in a statement.

On his Tuesday’s visit, Modi’s first to the state since 2019, is being interpreted as a show of support for Dubey, who has recently focused his attention on Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is under fire over the mining scam and the money laundering investigation into his aide, Pankaj Mishra.
