Following an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, India, on Tuesday, confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the BRICS annual Summit on June 23 and 24. After New Delhi opted for a virtual summit rather than an in-person summit in China, the Ministry of External Affairs made the announcement.
The focus of the 14th BRICS Summit will be on intra-BRICS cooperation in a variety of fields, including counterterrorism, business, health, traditional medicine, the environment, science, technology, innovation, agriculture, technical and vocational education, and training, and MSMEs.
Discussions are also anticipated on issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, reforming the international system, and global economic recovery, among others. On June 24, a high-level dialogue on global development with guest countries is scheduled.
BRICS has developed into a forum for discussion and deliberation on issues that concern all developing nations. The BRICS nations have frequently called for multilateral reform to make it more inclusive and representative.
The conference is likely to include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and leaders from Brazil and South Africa.
