PM Modi to visit Karnataka today

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to Karnataka to launch and lay the groundwork for several rail and road infrastructure projects costing over Rs 27,000 crore.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister will visit the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru on Monday at 12:30 p.m. to launch the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) and lay the foundation stone for Bagchi-Parthasarathy Multispeciality Hospital. The Centre is a one-of-a-kind research centre that focuses on doing critical research to provide evidence-based public health strategies for the management of age-related brain illnesses.

During the event, he would also lay the groundwork for the 832-bed Bagchi Parthasarathy Multispeciality Hospital. The Hospital will be built on the IISc Bengaluru campus and will aid in the integration of science, engineering, and medicine at the premier institute.

In an effort to improve mobility and connectivity in Bengaluru, the Prime Minister will lay the groundwork for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), which will connect the city with its suburbs and satellite townships. The project, which would cost more than Rs 15,700 crore, will have four corridors with a total route length of more than 148 kilometres.

The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for the rebuilding of Bengaluru Cantt. and Yesvantpur Junction railway stations, which would cost around Rs 500 crore and Rs 375 crore, respectively.

At around 1:45 p.m., he will visit the Dr. BR Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) in Bengaluru, where he will open the new BASE University campus and unveil the Dr. BR Ambedkar monument.

He would also dedicate to the nation 150 ‘Technology Hubs’ created by revamping Karnataka’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

This one-of-a-kind venture, built at a cost of over Rs 4600 crore, is sponsored by a large number of industry partners. It intends to develop a trained workforce to meet the staffing requirements of Industry 4.0. These Technology Hubs, via their numerous creative courses, will provide high-skill training in cutting-edge technology and boost job and entrepreneurial options for ITI graduates.

Following that, PM Modi will arrive in Bengaluru at about 2:45 p.m. to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for numerous rail and road infrastructure projects costing over Rs 27000 crore.

The Prime Minister will then attend a public celebration at Maharaja’s College Ground in Mysuru at 5:30 p.m., where he will lay the foundation stone for the Naganahalli Railway Station Coaching Terminal, which would cost more than Rs 480 crore.

During the programme, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation India’s first air-conditioned railway station, Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Station at Baiyappanahalli, which is being built along the lines of a contemporary airport at a cost of around Rs 315 crore.

He will also lay the foundation stone of two sections of the Bengaluru Ring Road project. The project to be developed at a cost of more than Rs 2280 crore will help reduce traffic congestion in the city.

The Coaching terminal will also have a MEMU shed and will decongest the existing Mysuru Yard, facilitating the running of more MEMU train services and long-distance trains from Mysuru, improving both connectivity and tourism potential of the region. This will benefit the daily commuters as well as those travelling to long-distance destinations.

During the programme, the Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation the ‘Centre of Excellence for persons with communication disorders’ at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH). It is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities for the diagnosis, assessment and rehabilitation of persons with communication disorders.

Thereafter, at around 7 pm, he will visit Sri Suttur Math in Mysuru and at around 7:45 pm, PM Modi will be visiting Sri Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru.

On June 21, on the occasion of the eighth International Day of Yoga (IDY), Prime Minister will participate along with thousands of participants in a Mass Yoga Demonstration at Mysore Palace ground in Mysuru at 6:30 am.

Integrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with celebrations of the 8th IDY, Mass Yoga demonstrations will also be organised at 75 iconic locations across the country under the leadership of 75 Union Ministers, along with the Yoga Demonstration by the Prime Minister at Mysore.

The Yoga demonstrations will also be held by various educational, social, political, cultural, religious, corporate and other civil society organisations and will be attended by crores of people across the country.

Prime Minister’s Yoga programme at Mysuru is also part of the novel programme ‘Guardian Yoga Ring’ which is a collaborative exercise between 79 countries and United Nations organisations along with Indian Missions abroad to illustrate Yoga’s unifying power that surpasses National boundaries.

As the sun apparently moves from the east to the west across the world, the Mass Yoga Demonstrations in the participating countries, if seen from any one point on Earth, will seem to be happening one after the other, almost in tandem, thus underlining the concept of ‘One Sun, One earth’. This innovative programme will be telecast live on DD India starting from 3 AM IST (telecast from Fiji) till 10 pm IST (telecast from San Francisco USA) on June 21.

As part of the programme, Prime Minister’s programme in Mysuru will be telecast live on DD India from 06:30 am IST.
Since 2015, the International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated worldwide on June 21 every year.

The theme for this year’s Yoga Day is “Yoga for Humanity”. The theme portrays how Yoga served humanity in alleviating suffering during Covid Pandemic.
