The family of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt, who was slain in a terrorist attack in Budgam district, received an appointment letter and Rs 5 lakh in financial help from the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday.
Officials claimed the administration has accepted Meenakshi Raina’s employment to Government Higher Secondary School, Nawabad, Jammu, on compassionate grounds with a pay scale of Rs 14,800-47,100.
Rahul Bhatt’s family had expressed their desire for him to be transferred. Several attempts to relocate him from Chadoora were made, citing the danger to his life, but the administration did not take any action.
Bhatt, who was hired as a clerk under Jammu and Kashmir’s special employment package for migrants in 2010-11, was killed by terrorists in Chadoora town, Budgam district, on Thursday.
People from the Kashmiri Pandit community, who were employed under the Prime Minister’s special employment package, protested Rahul’s death and said that Rahul Bhatt’s wife had met with administrative officials multiple times to beg his removal.
On May 13, security forces killed two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists who were involved in the murder of Rahul Bhatt during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
