According to authorities, a vegetable vendor from Alwar, Rajasthan, who was reportedly beaten by a crowd on Monday passed away while receiving medical attention at a Jaipur hospital.
The 45-year-old seller, Chiranji Saini, was beaten after being mistaken for a robber in Rambas village, Alwar district, within the jurisdiction of Govindgarh police station. Saini was being beaten by more than a dozen individuals while he was returning home after using the restroom at a farm. According to information, several robbers also stole a tractor around the same time. The tractor’s owner and police officers from Sadar Police Station pursued the culprits. The robbers fled after realising they were being pursued by authorities, leaving the tractor in a field close to the power plant.
Meanwhile, the tractor owner mistaken Saini for the robber, and he and his friends began beating Saini. Soon after, police intervened and helped the injured person go to a hospital where he was originally given first assistance before being sent to the Jaipur hospital, where he passed away from his wounds at approximately 3 o’clock.
The fact that the accused was a member of a particular group caused widespread resentment among the populace.
Chiranji used to earn his livelihood by setting up a vegetable cart. After his death, the angry crowd protested outside the police station and demanded that the accused be taken into custody. They have also sought money to help the family deal with the tragedy.

However, the police has refrained from providing more details.
SHO Deputy Assistant Inspector Shyam Lal Meena confirmed that Chiranji Saini lost his life after being badly thrashed and said that the police has registered a case.
“A case of the tractor theft was registered in the police station area of Sadar and they have recovered the vehicle from Rambagh area,” the police official said.
