Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday to attend the Kargil Vijay Diwas remembrance ceremony.
Rajnath Singh on Saturday tweeted, “Tomorrow, July 24th, I will be in Jammu for a programme celebrating ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas.’ I’m excited about it.”
Rajnath Singh is expected to arrive today, accompanied by RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, to address a rally at Gulshan field near Jammu University.
Indian Army is also preparing for the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas, which will be held at Kargil War Memorial. Every year on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War in 1999.
Meanwhile, preparations for a three-day ceremony at Kargil War Memorial are underway. Several activities will be conducted in the region, attended by army and civil administration authorities, as well as heroism winners and their families.
Earlier on Friday, Kargil Vijay Diwas motorcycle procession, which began at National War Memorial in Delhi, arrived in Srinagar, where motorcyclists lay a wreath at the Chinar War Memorial at Badami Bagh Cantonment to honour bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice.
