Ranchi police announced on Wednesday that 29 people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Ranchi Police said, “A total of 29 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the violence in Ranchi on Friday, June 10th.”
However, six persons were arrested in the case earlier on Tuesday.
Ranchi Superintendent of Police Anshuman Kumar stated “The case names all six people arrested as defendants. These suspects have been brought to Kotwali PS from various parts of Ranchi for questioning.”
After Friday prayers on June 10, a protest erupted in Ranchi against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Jindal’s provocative remarks about Prophet Muhammad. As the rally grew violent, two people died and others were injured.
