Rashtrapatni Controversy: BJP slams Adhir Chowdhury over sexist remark on Murmu

A high voltage drama erupted in the Lok Sabha when Ranjan Chowdhury addressed President Droupadi Murmu as “Rashtrapatni”. Chowdhury’s remark about Murmu has sparked heated arguments between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.

On this Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attacked Sonia inside Rajya Sabha and, Irani slammed the Congress in Lok Sabha.

Irani said, “Sonia Gandhi sanctioned the humiliation of a woman at the highest constitutional office in the country”.

 “I demand an apology from the President of Congress party who herself is a woman has allowed her leader to speak like that. Sonia Gandhi should come before the nation and apologise for insulting the President,” Sitharaman said.

As per media reports, National Commission for Women chief Rekha Sharma said “The remark of Parliamentarian Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury towards the President of India is very derogatory. This sexist remark shows his mindset towards women. When he can speak like this towards the highest authority of India, how must he be behaving with others?”
