Saini community expressed gratitude to PM for adding the Saini caste of Sikhs living in the union territory to the list of OBC.
The Saini community expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for adding the Saini caste of Sikhs living in the union territory to the list of Other Backward Classes (OBC).
In a press conference Jammu and Kashmir Saini Sabha stated that this is a historic move that would help in the socioeconomic development of the less powerful and ignored segments of the society.
Sabha President Satpal Saini further stated “This was our long-standing demand, which has finally been realised by the federal government and the UT administration.”
He further stated “Because of the persistent demands made by members of our community who have been really fighting for OBC designation over the last few decades, we have succeeded in doing so. We applaud Justice GD Sharma’s and the Indian government’s decision to give Jat and Saini communities in Jammu and Kashmir OBC status.”
He added that the inclusion of numerous sectors under the OBC category was only made feasible by the repeal of Article 370.
