According to reports, one of Bhardwaj’s friend drove him to Kukreja hospital. A PCR call at 4.40 p.m. was received from Kukreja Hospital, Rajouri Garden, indicating that Sandeep Bhardwaj s/o Naresh Bhardwaj R/0 B 10/15, Rajouri Garden Delhi, had died.
The 55-year-old man was found dead in his home after hanging himself. Police informed that a crime squad has been dispatched to the scene.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal conveyed his sympathies and expressed regret over Bhardwaj’s death.
“We are very grieved by tragic death in Delhi of Aam Aadmi Party worker Sandeep Bhardwaj. May God provide his soul a position at his throne. My sympathies to his family members in this hour of sadness and the whole party stands with the family members of Sandeep ji in this tough time,” tweeted CM Kejriwal.
Officials noted that inquest proceedings under Section 174 Crpc are being carried out in accordance with the law.
Notably, the event occurred just weeks before MCD election, which is set to take place on December 4 with vote counting on December 7.
