After the Murder of popular singer Sidhu Moosewala, rumours of Moosewala’s father joining politics were heard. However, the later has denied rumours that he may run for office in the state, saying that he has ‘no intentions’ to do so.
On Saturday, the father was seen folding his hands and urging viewers not to believe such rumours in a 55-second video posted on his son’s YouTube page.
In Punjabi, he said “I wanted to express my sadness over recent events on social media. There are a lot of rumours circulating around, but don’t believe them. I recently lost my kid, and I have no intention of running for office.”
In Chandigarh earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the late Punjabi singer’s family.
On May 29, unidentified assassins shot and killed the singer-turned-politician in Jawaharke village in Punjab’s Mansa district, a day after the Punjab government reduced his security cover.
In the midst of the protests, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also paid a visit to the singer’s family in Mansa on Friday.
On the same day, a BJP leader from Punjab petitioned the Supreme Court to have Moose Wala’s murder investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to the post-mortem study, Moose Wala’s body had 19 bullet injuries and he died within 15 minutes of being shot, with the cause of death being “haemorrhage shock” owing to antemortem gunshot injuries.
The Punjab administration, led by Bhagwant Mann, told the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday that from June 7, it will restore security coverage to all 424 people who had it temporarily revoked for the Amritsar Ghalughara festival.
In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, Canadian gangster Goldy Brar allegedly claimed responsibility for the Punjabi singer’s murder.
Brar is a close ally of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, who is also suspected of having a hand in the singer’s death. Satinder Singh, alias Brar, is a suspect in a number of criminal cases.
