Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and forensic specialists on Saturday went to the Leoney Grand Resort in Goa, where late BJP leader Sonali Phogat and her aides had been staying before she passed away.

According to sources, CBI detectives who were looking into the case spent more than ten hours inside the resort. On September 15, 2022, the CBI took over the investigation of Sonali Phogat’s death from the Goa Police. They then filed a FIR into the crime and requested a thorough investigation.

CBI and a forensic team visited the resort on North Goa’s Anjuna beach earlier on Saturday.

Pramod Sawant, chief minister of Goa, had earlier declared that he will ask Union Home Minister Amit Shah to turn the Phogat matter over to the CBI. Sonali Phogat’s death was the subject of a CBI probe recommendation made on September 12 by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Supreme Court postponed hearing on Curlies Restaurant’s appeal of the NGT ruling until September 26 and extended its temporary restraining order until the next hearing date.

The proprietors of the Curlies restaurant have petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the decision to destroy the establishment for allegedly breaking Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) regulations.
