Special Medals to be awarded to security forces on Independence day

On the occasion of the nation's 75th anniversary of independence, India will award its bravest people with newly created "special" awards.
On the occasion of the nation’s 75th anniversary of independence, India will award its bravest people with newly created “special” awards. These medals are awarded to the armed forces and central armed police forces every 25 years. The last time they were distributed was on August 15, 1997, 50th anniversary of the end of British sovereignty.
According to an exclusive glimpse, the new medal will include Ashoka Chakra on the back and Ashoka Lion on the front. On August 15, it will be launched, serving as the ideal culmination to the Center’s signature “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” events.
Sources stated, the unique medal that will be given to personnel of the armed forces and CAPF has been authorised by the central government. India has in the past given out 35 mm-diameter circular medals made of cupro-nickel and affixed to a horizontal bar.
As has been custom, federal government presented a commemorative Independence Medal in honour of the nation’s 75th year of freedom.
All active members of the armed forces—army, air force, and navy—as well as members of central armed police forces and state police units will receive the medal.
The circular medal will have an Ashoka Chakra on the back, an Ashoka Lion on the front, and a blue ribbon with the colours of the flag. Along with the dates 1947–2022, the medal also has the words 75th Anniversary of Independence engraved on it.
