In an incident that not only caused a stir around the cricket field but also reached the political circles, the chief coach of the national cricket team of Bangladesh has published a highly critical “inside story” of their abysmal T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. On Saturday, the media was informed through a report that the coaching team felt “handcuffed” due to the interference of the administration and government, which resulted in a performance that has reportedly left the Bangladesh government feeling globally “humiliated”.

The exit of the Tigers, which was characterised by a lack of tactical collaboration and internal disagreements, is no longer just seen as a sporting error but as a complete breakdown of the system.

How Internal Discord And External Pressure Derailed Bangla Tigers In T20 World Cup 2026

According to the coach, Mohammad Salahuddin, the dressing room atmosphere was negatively affected by the external pressures; therefore, the journey to the World Cup had essentially become a political minefield, which the players had not been provided with the means to deal with.

The leaked reports from the coaching camp tell a pretty bleak story about how things went before Bangladeshs last few matches. Basically, it sounds like the usual selection process got tossed aside. Higher-ups kept stepping in, so the coaches couldn’t actually stick to their game plans for the conditions they were facing. That kind of interference created clear tension between the older players and the management.

“I myself am a teacher; teachers generally lie a bit less. That he would say such lies so openly—I honestly can’t even imagine it. How will I even show my face in front of the boys? He is a teacher at Dhaka University. A person from the highest educational institution of my country telling such lies—we can’t accept this. How can we accept this? He said one thing earlier and later took a U-turn,” Salahuddin said to reporters.
