Former Australian and Multan Sultans pacer Peter Siddle was furious with the fielding lapse in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against the Lahore Qalandars on April 3, Friday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In a video that surfaced on social media, Siddle wore expression of frustration as the overthrow resulted in conceding six runs.
In a rain-shortened contest in Lahore, Sultans captain Ashton Turner opted to bowl first. However, Lahore Qalandars took the opposition bowlers with a powerful batting display, amassing 185/5 in their 13 overs, headlined by Mohammad Naeem’s 60 alongside cameos from Parvez Hossain Emon (45) and Abdullah Shafique (33). Meanwhile, the fielding lapse occurred in the 12th over of the innings as the yorker from Siddle saw Asif Ali toe end to fine leg inside the ring. Mohammad Wasim fired a throw at the non-striker’s end but there was no backup, allowing the batters to take a brace. Another throw triggered a misfield from the fielders and it resulted in a boundary, making it six runs.
Here’s the video of the incident
Due to showers in Lahore, the match underwent a lengthy delay and started only at 8:45 local time with 13 overs per side. As per the rules, 3 bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs, 2 bowlers can bowl a maximum of 2 overs. Powerplay of 3.5 overs. Lahore had notably witnessed a washout between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi.
