Despite the existence of transfer rumours, Alonso says Rodrygo's future will also rely on how well he plays this season.
With the heat increasing in the summer transfer market, Arsenal have been eyeing up Rodrygo of Real Madrid, and see him as a possible game changer to their front line. Nevertheless, the new Real manager, Xabi Alonso has had to assure fans and pundits too publicly that his plans of the Brazilian are unchanged. Replying to the question regarding Rodrygo, Alonso went on to say, “All the rumours revolve during the summer but I can say I have seen him well and I am counting on everyone. I trust Rodrygo definitely, 100%.”
Rodrygo has also gone off the radar of late as he played few minutes at the FIFA Club World Cup and was not considered during preseason games. This has caused speculation that he may leave and this may alter the centre of power in elite markets. Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich and even Tottenham have all been touted as interested in him.
Nonetheless, the implication by Alonso was loud and clear, that Rodrygo has to do his best in order to keep his place. Alonso also relied on all with the aim that they were committed to the team and were at 100%, and he said ‘I am depending on all and I want them to commit themselves to the team.’
In the perspective of Rodrygo, the summer rumor is likely to be annoying, but previous suggestions have pointed to the fact that he continues to value his position at Real Madrid so long as he is permitted to get additional playing time. This demonstrates his professionalism and patience in staying and fighting to have his role in a team comprising of stars.
Real Madrid haven’t received awaited bids from any club yet, but a Tottenham bid of up to 100 million has been mentioned. There is some uncertainty about the extent to which there is a deal in place, and since Rodrygo arguably does not want to move to a team that he feels is below his means, he may not want to move anywhere.
