The father of a Class XII girl has petitioned the Supreme Court to include a doctor of their choice on the panel that conducts the second autopsy.
The Supreme Court has refused to stay the second autopsy scheduled for today, despite massive protests over the death of a Tamil Nadu schoolgirl.

The girl’s family has requested an expedited hearing in the case. The Supreme Court has stated that the case will be heard tomorrow.
After the girl’s parents were discovered to be unavailable for the post-mortem examination, the state government approached the Madras High Court. The high court ordered that the autopsy be performed without the presence of the parents.
If the parents arrived, the court instructed the police to allow them to participate in the proceedings. “We have requested the dean of Kallakurichi Medical College to conduct the post-mortem,” a senior police officer said.
The high court ordered a new autopsy yesterday, but denied the parents’ request to include a doctor of their choice on the medical panel. The court had allowed a parent and a lawyer to attend the autopsy.
The girl’s father then petitioned the Supreme Court to include a doctor of their choice on the autopsy panel.
On July 13, the girl allegedly jumped from the third floor of her hostel on the campus of the private residential school in Kallakurichi, about 260 kilometres from Chennai. According to police, a note found in her room stated that she was struggling in several subjects and that her teachers had humiliated her.
The girl’s family claims that the teachers mentally abused her. They have also claimed that a wall near where she was discovered dead bore the mark of a bloodied palm, implying a physical struggle.
