Looking For Affordable AI Access? OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Go In India At ₹399(Image Credit- Google)
OpenAI has launched its lowest priced subscription model, ChatGPT Go, in India at 399 GBP/ month. Intended to enable a broader section of people to have easy access to AI, the plan offers improved features and easier payment options to smaller sections of the population along with simplifying payment modes through UPI plug-in, and, thereby, allows millions of Indians to access its subscription without credit cards.
The new plan considerably enhances usage as opposed to the free one. Subscribers have 10 times as many messages, 10 times as many image creations and 10 times as many file uploads. Also, Go users have twice the memory length and it allows talking longer and at a deeper context. The service is driven by GPT-5, with enhanced answers and enhanced support to the Indic languages, and so suited to the various languages in India.
ChatGPT Go is a direct Prime offering in between the free and more premium ChatGPT Plus (1,999/month) and ChatGPT Pro (19,900/month). Whereas Go is targeted at individuals, students and professionals who require expanded AI abilities and want to pay affordable price, plus subscribers have access to a broader range of models, unlimited usage, and premium in-depth tools such as Sora to develop video material. Pro on the other hand supports enterprises that have large, custom features.
India is the second-largest market for OpenAI and the CEO, Sam Altman has indicated that it could be the largest soon. That such a highly competitive pricing of ChatGPT Go is strategic and part of a move to broaden the AI embrace in one of the fast growing global evolving digital economies. Facilitating the interoperability of UPI, OpenAI will not only be able to make transactions via commonly used applications such as PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm but also eliminate these obstacles to entry.
The OpenAI will keep an eye on the results of user adoption and feedback in India, after which it has to decide on the possible global release of the ChatGPT Go plan. It provides such strong capabilities at prices that are far lower than the international ones, thus strengthening its market in India, as well as democratizing access to the latest AI tools.
