Ajay Singh, senior superintendent of police for Special Task Force Uttarakhand, announced that Gaurav Chauhan, an additional private secretary who works in the state secretariat’s Public Works and Forest Department, had been detained in connection with the case of the paper leak involving the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission.
Chauhan was called in for interrogation in relation to the case yesterday, after which he was taken into custody. So far, 15 persons have been detained in connection with the case.
After Printing Press Lucknow and the Recruitment Commission, the probe into the UKSSSC document leak has now reached the Uttarakhand Secretariat, according to the SSP.
He stated, “Information was supplied by accused Tushar Chauhan and Manoj Joshi (court employee) regarding the exam question paper leak. This information was based on comprehensive questioning of the accused and other pupils caught previously and in solid evidence.”
Singh said that following the test results, the accused collected a total of Rs 24 lakhs through one of the two candidates out of the arrangement, which was made with two candidates for a total of Rs 15 lakhs each.
He further stated that “Before the test, the remaining sum was paid to others. Interrogation, evidence already in the public domain, and electronic evidence have all been used to make the aforementioned arrest.”
