Voters took part in the celebration of democracy by casting their votes in the state Assembly elections held in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
According to the declaration made by Election Commission, 65.92% of eligible voters had cast ballots in the Himachal Assembly elections as of 5 PM. Till 3 pm, a 55% voter turnout was observed. Up to 1 pm, the state saw a 37.19% voting turnout. The state only saw a 17.98% voting turnout as at 11 am. 5.02 percent of eligible voters cast ballots as of 9 am.
On Saturday morning at 8 am, voting to choose the next Himachal Pradesh government across 68 seats began under heavy security. Today, a total of 55,92,828 eligible voters cast ballots to determine the destiny of the 412 contestants. Out of the total electorates, there were 28,54,945 men, 27,37,845 women, and 38 people who identified as a third gender. This time, there were 24 women among the contenders.
The intense campaigning by political parties came to an end on November 10.
