In his fourth effort, Neeraj achieved a distance of 88.13m and finished second. The Olympic medalist began this competition with a foul throw, followed by 82.39m and 86.37m. Finally, on his fourth effort, he accomplished a distance of 88.13m, putting him in contention for the silver medal.
Neeraj’s last two tries were foul throws, and he finished in second place. Anderson Peters of Grenada, the incumbent champion, took first place with a distance of 90.54m.
Neeraj also became India’s first track and field athlete to win a World Championship silver medal, and country’s second podium finisher after famous long jumper Anju Bobby George placed third in Paris in 2003.
In contrast, World Championships rookie Rohit Yadav finished 10th after making efforts of 78.72m, 78.05m, and 77.95m.
