Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster sequel Dharandhar 2 has been creating quite a buzz. From labelling it as a ‘propaganda film’ to Bollywood biggies coming out in support of the flick, the Ranveer Singh starrer has experienced it all. In the latest, Pakistani politician Nabil Gabol has reacted to Dhurandhar 2 and conveyed his love for senior actor Rakesh Bedi, who played the role of Jameel Jamali. The character is loosely based on Nabil Gabol.
Previously, Nabil Gabol had criticised the prequal and said he would make a project tentatively named Lyari Ka Gabbar to counter the narrative shown in Dhurandhar. It would focus on his side of the story.
What Did Nabil Gabol Say About Rakesh Bedi’s Portrayal of Jameel Jamali?
In a recent interaction, the Pakistani politician conveyed his love for Rakesh Bedi and said that he respects him as a ‘very senior actor’. “Rakesh Bedi is an actor. He is an artist. I want to tell him that we may look similar. Humara dil, humari khoon, humara chehra sabka ek jaisa hain. Main personal nahi hona chahta hoon unke saath (Our hearts, our blood, our faces might look similar. I don’t want to get personal with him)!” he told content creator Navin Giri.
“Give my message to Rakesh Bedi, that I respect you as a very senior actor and I love you,” Nabil Gabol added.
Rakesh Bedi, who portrays Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali in the Dhurandhar installments, has won hearts with his performance. Ever since the films released, social media has time and again tried to link Rakesh Bedi’s character to Nabil Gabol. After the release of Dhurandhar 2 which revealed the real identity of Rakesh Bedi’s character, Nabil Gabol has been trolled by Pakistani media.
What Had Nabil Gabol Said About Dhurandhar?
When Dhuradhar was out last year, Nabil Gabol had expressed displeasure on the way the character of Jameel Jamali character was portrayed. He told the media, “Jo mera role dikhaya gaya hai, mera role bahut dabbang tha, or dabbang iss tareeke se tha ki inhone mere role ko sahi tareeke se nahi dikhaya (I was very audacious. But they haven’t shown me the way I was).”

Other than Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar 2 stars R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles. The spy thriller helmed by Aditya Dhar was released on March 19.
Dhurandhar 2 has been going strong at the box office, crossing Rs 1400-crore mark worldwide in just 11 days. The spy thriller surpassed Rs 1000 crore globally within the first week of release. It shattered box-office records right from its opening weekend, earning more than Rs 100 crore net in three days.
The prequel earned around Rs 1300 crore worldwide and is still running in theatres even three months after its December release. Meanwhile, the sequel is likely to cross the Rs 2000-crore mark.
