BLACKPINK’s Rosé Steals Spotlight at Wembley, Sparking Fan Debate
BLACKPINK’s recent DEADLINE tour performance at Wembley Arena has erupted into controversy among fans. Rosé’s exciting performance of the Spice Girls’ hit ‘Wannabe’, won over the crowd but her solo effort drew criticisms toward her three bandmates, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo, for seeming not to take part in it, creating heated discussions online. Here’s the controversy which has made X hotter.
At Wembley on 15 August, 2025, Rose gave shout-out to some iconic British girl groups which included Spice Girls. In excitement, Rose can’t stop herself from performing Spice Girls’ “Wannabe.”
Her energy was evident in her dance as she rapped and sang, bringing those infectious Spice Girls vibes to life. Fans noted seamless interaction with a crowd of approximately 70,000, bringing nostalgia to an even higher pitch.
Nonetheless, the showcase has focused on Rosé’s bandmates’ omission of vocals, support and lack of energy, leading some BLINKs to question their effort. They’ve flooded social media with posts, criticising other bandmates bland and low efforts.
It imparts differences for BLINKs as Rosé was praised by some fans for her commanding presence on stage, such as one X post saying, “Rosé is carrying this tour with her energy!” However, there are criticisms like “Why is Rosé the only one singing? The others could’ve at least mumbled along?”
Critics asserted that there was absolutely no participation from Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo, one went as far as saying, “It’s really unfair to call it a group effort when it’s just Rosé.” Defenders, however, claim the performance was organic, and Rosé, probably knowing the song better than the others, took control of it. They told netizens to appreciate the fun moment unscripted by the group rather than nitpicking.
The “Wannabe” one is not the only blunder, BLACKPINK has been under unimaginable scrutiny for a lack of synchronization and low energy before too, during their DEADLINE tour-the current tour that started in July of this year.
Rosé herself faced backlash for a silent crowd during her solo song “3 am” in Toronto, though fans later debunked edited clips. However, these criticisms and backlashes don’t stop the iconic girl group from shining, as they finally wrapped up their two nights in London, UK, at Wembley Arena, BLACKPINK is now looking and their 2025 comeback and further shows.
