K-Pop Icon Kim Jong Kook Announces Marriage
South Korean singer and Running Man icon Kim Jong Kook, 49, made a surprising announcement regarding his marriage on August 18, 2025, through a deeply felt handwritten letter. Shared on his official fan cafe, the announcement marks an eventful period for the singer during his 30th debut anniversary this year and had raised feverish excitement and curiosity worldwide.
Kim broke the news of his wedding during the filming of Running Man in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, leaving his fellow stars Jang Dong-yoon and Kim Ah-young shocked, suspecting it was a prank. The letter was again a candid one in which he expressed his nervousness, “I always imagined writing this, but I’m more nervous than expected.”

While Kim confirmed the wedding will be a humble affair in Seoul with family members and friends inviting only those deemed close, he still maintained the identity of the bride, revealing that she is non-celebrity.
This secrecy has spurred speculation, more so after his April 2025 purchase of a ₩6.2 billion luxury villa in Gangnam, hinted as a “newlywed home” on a variety show. The fans are buzzing with theories ranging from a revision of past dating rumors with stars like Yoon Eun-hye or Song Ji-hyo, yet Kim denied it all. The private ceremony in this case conforms to the recent trend whereby Korean celebrities emphasize discretion.
