A 23-year-old B.Tech student, Bhumika Gupta, was found dead in her hostel room at BML Munjal University in Gurugram, Haryana, under suspicious circumstances. A resident of Alwar, Rajasthan, Bhumika was discovered hanging from a ceiling hook in her room late on Monday night. The incident occurred after Bhumika attended a friend’s birthday party in the hostel. According to her roommate, Bhumika appeared to be in good spirits during the celebration. However, when the roommate returned to their room around 1:30 AM to retrieve some items for the party, the door was found locked from the inside, and there was no response to repeated knocks.

The hostel warden was alerted, and a plumber was called to break open the door, revealing Bhumika’s body. The police were informed at approximately 4:00 AM and arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and Bhumika’s family was notified of the incident. While the initial assessment suggests suicide, her maternal uncle has raised concerns, noting that Bhumika’s legs were bent, and the soles of her feet were touching the floor, suggesting the possibility of foul play. He has called for an impartial investigation into the matter. The university has expressed its condolences and is cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.

At this time, no suicide note has been found, and the exact cause of Bhumika’s death remains unclear. The police are exploring all angles to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
