
Delhi Police Registers Attempt FIR Of Attempt To Murder In CM Rekha Gupta Attack Case
Delhi Police has registered an FIR in connection with the attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at her residence in north Delhi’s Civil Lines area on Wednesday. The case was registered under section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Civil Lines police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said that the accused, identified as Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai, has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly attacked during a Jan Sunwai (public meeting). As per reports, a stone was thrown during the weekly meeting. The Jan Sunwai was organised in an open house for public grievances.
BJP alleged CM Rekha Gupta was slapped, hair pulled and dragged by a 35-year-old attacker. A heavy object, possibly a stone, was reportedly thrown, causing the CM to fall.
The accused, disguised as a complainant, has been detained by Delhi Police. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva strongly condemns the attack; police investigation is ongoing.

Delhi Police said, “The accused is identifying himself as Rajesh Khimji and says that he belongs to Rajkot, Gujarat. It is being verified whether his name and address are accurate. His documents are being verified.”
News agency ANI has released the image of the individual who allegedly attacked Delhi CM Rekha Gupta. The picture has been verified by official sources, it said.
