Another change is that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has restructured the match schedules of Asia Cup 2025 and moved the bulk of matches to a later evening. In the 19 T20 matches, there will be 18 matches that will commence at 8:00 PM IST (6:30 PM local time) as compared to the initial 7:30 PM IST start time. The modification takes place in all the matches, even the much anticipated India vs Pakistan game, as part of the attempts to handle the heat in the UAE and provide all stadium attendees with easier sightlines and an improved environment.
There is just one day time match, UAE vs Oman on September 15 in Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi that will start at 5:30 PM IST (4:00 PM local). The T20 format Asia Cup, that will be held between September 9 to 28, will involve eight teams divided into two groups of four. Every team will have one match in a group. The two best of each group will pass to the Super Four round with the final being held on the 28th of September in Dubai.
India is found in Group A with Pakistan, UAE and Oman; Group B includes Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. The changed timetable is to not only address the extreme weather, but to also be in a position to take full advantage of primetime broadcasting in South Asia, increasing the number of people watching and the event experiences.
The India vs Pakistan game on September 14 has proved to be the marquee game and now it has been scheduled to be played at 8:00 PM IST which will guarantee the game maximum visibility and viewer attention. Such a timing adjustment guarantees the players are playing in cooler evening weather and the fans, both in stadiums and in residential areas, the best opportunity to immerse themselves in all the high stakes high visibility tournament.
