In the ODI World Cup, six players, including Sarah Glenn, will make their debuts.
England has announced a strong 15 player squad to participate in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 which will commence September 30, 2025 in India and Sri Lanka. At the helm is Nat Sciver Brunt, the new all format captain who comes into her ICC event leadership role ranked No.1 on the Women ODIs batter ranking.
The team is a combination of experienced vets and fresh young talents. England captain Heather Knight returns after recovering the hamstring tendon problem, Sarah Glenn and Danni Wyatt Hodge will also make their comeback after their absence in the series against India in the summer. England also have strength in depth with their spinners, they have four specialist spinners including the best ODI bowler in the world, Sophie Ecclestone. Glenn is one of the 6 players who are getting their first ODI World Cup appearance.
Experience Stability of retained pillars Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley, Amy Jones, Charlie Dean, and Linsey Smith will target to repeat the victorious 2017 and anchor the team. The Head Coach Charlotte Edwards noted the privilege of serving the England team and underlined the difficulty of the tournament in subcontinental conditions. She was delighted in the depth of selection especially in the spinners and the involvement of Glenn. As Edwards indicated, although there are those who could not make it to the team, it is still ready to go toe to toe with the best.
It is the 13th edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup tournament played between eight teams in this round robin and knockout format between September 30 and November 2, 2025. It will be the last edition with only eight teams and a sad point in the life of women cricket. England will have an opening match against South Africa on October 3 in Bengaluru and it will prove to be a high anticipation game in tough Down under conditions. England as four time tournament winners will be looking to win a fifth World Cup crown, combining strategic astuteness, bowling prowess and a high scoring batting lineup to add another notch to England international selection history.
