India has officially revealed its 15 member squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, set to begin on September 30 across venues in India and Sri Lanka. The squad announcement, finalized by the selection panel led by Neetu David, marks a crucial moment in India’s campaign to lift their maiden World Cup title on home soil.
Harmanpreet Kaur (Capt), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Richa Ghosh (WK), Kranti Gaud, Amanjot Kaur, Radha Yadav, Sree Charani, Yastika Bhatia (WK), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Sneh Rana.
Veteran batter Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side despite recent fitness concerns, while Smriti Mandhana has been named vice captain. The top order features the reliable Mandhana alongside rising star Pratika Rawal, who has been in sensational form in ODIs. Shafali Verma has made the cut, though her inclusion comes amid questions over her recent form.
India’s middle order looks well stocked with Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Harleen Deol. Yastika Bhatia, after a strong showing against Australia A, has been included both as a batter and a backup wicketkeeper. The spin unit is one of the strongest in the tournament, featuring Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav, and young N. Shree Charani.
Renuka Singh Thakur makes her return from injury and will lead the pace attack along with Arundhati Reddy and Kranti Gaud. Amanjot Kaur has been ruled out due to a back issue, which influenced the selection. Standbys include Prema Rawat and Anjali Sarvani, ready to step in if needed.
India begins their World Cup campaign on September 30 and will be under immense pressure as hosts and title contenders. With a balanced squad blending experience and youth, the team hopes to go all the way this time. Expectations are high, and the road to glory starts now.
