At least four Pakistani army personnel were killed in a raid carried out by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in the Surdu area of Panjgur on Tuesday night, the separatist group claimed in a statement.

BLA Spokesperson’s Statement

BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the fighters targeted Islam Sarwar, accused of leading a militia allegedly backed by the Pakistani military. According to the BLA, the militia had been involved in targeted killings, enforced disappearances, and extortion in Panjgur, while also operating under the army’s protection.

The group claimed its fighters seized three Kalashnikov rifles, an M-4, additional weapons, two vehicles, and three motorcycles from Sarwar’s hideout. They also alleged the site doubled as a torture facility, where electric shock devices and other tools of abuse were discovered.

Islam Sarwar reportedly took over the militia from his father, Ghulam Sarwar, who had earlier commanded the unit under the protection of the military. The BLA accused the militia of engaging in drug trafficking, kidnappings for ransom, and other illicit activities with impunity.

Jeeyand Baloch warned that the Pakistani army and its allies would be “held accountable for crimes against the Baloch people.” (Inputs from ANI)
