Donald Trump To Host White House Meeting On Gaza’s Post-War Future: All You Need To Know

US President Donald Trump will hold a high-level meeting at the White House on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, to discuss post-war plans for Gaza, his envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking to Fox News, Witkoff said, “We’ve got a large meeting in the White House tomorrow, chaired by the president, and it’s a very comprehensive plan we’re putting together on the next day.” He did not share specific details of what the plan would include but promised it would be “robust” and “well meaning.”

The announcement comes as questions grow over what will happen once the war in Gaza ends. The conflict began in October 2023, after Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel that killed 1,219 people, mostly civilians. Israel’s military response has since left more than 62,800 Palestinians dead, according to figures from Gaza’s health ministry that the United Nations treats as credible.

Earlier this year, Trump sparked global debate when he proposed that the United States should take control of the Gaza Strip, relocate its two million residents, and rebuild the territory into a luxury hub he described as the “Riviera of the Middle East.” He said Washington would clear the rubble and unexploded bombs to transform the area into prime real estate.

The idea received support from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but drew strong criticism from many European and Arab nations, who dismissed it as unrealistic and unjust.

While Witkoff did not confirm if the same proposal will be discussed in Wednesday’s meeting, he suggested that the plan will address concerns about stability and reconstruction after the fighting stops. The meeting is expected to bring together senior US officials and close allies as the White House outlines its vision for Gaza’s future.
