bahrain AWS attack
Amazon’s cloud computing operation in Bahrain was damaged after an Iranian strike, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, 1st April 2026, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Earlier in the day, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry announced that civil defense personnel were putting out a fire at a business facility after what they believed was an Iranian attack.
The ministry did not immediately provide details on the company involved, casualties or the extent of damage.
The report of the strike came a day after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened to target U.S. companies in the Middle East, including Microsoft, Google and, in retaliation for attacks on Iran.
Last week, the e-commerce giant said its Amazon Web Services region in Bahrain had been “disrupted” amid the current conflict in the Middle East, marking the second time in a month that its operations have been affected by the war.
AWS is Amazon’s cloud computing unit and critical for the operation of many well-known websites and government operations, and the company’s main profit driver.
