A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region on Tuesday, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported. The quake occurred at a depth of 186 kilometres (116 miles), according to GFZ.

A separate earthquake took place in Afghanistan on August 6 with a magnitude of 4.2, a statement by the National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed.
