Good Friday Stock Market Holiday: The stock exchange markets at India’s premier stock exchanges, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), will remain closed tomorrow on the occasion of Good Friday, thus giving investors a three-day break as it coincides with the weekend.

NSE, BSE Closed On Good Friday

No trade will take place in the markets tomorrow in terms of various segments like equities, equity derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLBs), currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives. This will include the closure of all markets for the day.

The markets will remain closed tomorrow on the occasion of Good Friday and will reopen on the following Sunday and Monday as it will coincide with the weekend.

Why Markets Are Closed

Good Friday is an important Christian festival commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is widely celebrated in India as a public holiday, and markets, banks, and some establishments are closed.

Relief Amid Market Volatility

The extended break comes at a time when markets are highly volatile, partly because of the prevailing geopolitics, including the Iran-US crisis. Analysts believe the break will give investors some respite in uncertain market conditions.

Trading Hours on Good Friday at MCX

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed on Good Friday in the morning session. However, commodity exchange will resume in the evening session according to the exchange’s holiday hours.

Normal Stock Market Timings

On regular days, the timings are as follows:

NSE and BSE: From 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM. Pre-open session starts from 9:00 AM.

MCX: Two sessions.

Morning session: From 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Evening session: From 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM or 11:55 PM.

Stock Market Holiday Calendar 2026
