Stock Market Today: Indian Markets Open on Cautious Note Ahead of Fed Signals, Global Cues
Good morning, Readers!
The Indian stock market opened on a very cautious and slightly negative note today. The Sensex slipped down below 81,600, and the Nifty is still hovering around 24,960. This is all as investors turned risk-averse ahead of key global events.
After a strong rally earlier in the week for straight two days, it’s time for traders to now hold back, watching for clarity from the US Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole symposium beginning tomorrow.
These upcoming days demand outlooks from global markets, as key events are about to take place.
Domestically, the Indian market will get only less affected by all these events that might affect the other global markets. In the country, the domestic trust of investors is tight.
US markets ended mixed overnight, with tech stocks dragging the Nasdaq lower, while the Dow remained flat. Asian markets also opened weak, weighed down by poor export data from Japan and South Korea.
Back home, the GIFT Nifty had already signaled a subdued start. Crude oil prices ticked higher amid lower US inventories, while gold extended losses due to a stronger dollar.
Telecom stocks like Bharti Airtel remain in focus after tariff revisions. Meanwhile, a few stocks are under F&O ban, keeping trade volumes in check.
Caution is in the air, but domestic sentiment remains resilient.
