Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has clarified that its vote in the next Vice Presidential election will depend on which side ensures timely supply of urea to farmers. BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) said that the party’s four votes will be cast for the candidate be from the INDIA bloc or the NDA whom shows the first initiative to end the crisis.
If Rahul Gandhi promises to give urea to farmers, we will vote for the candidate of the INDIA bloc. If PM Modi promises to give urea before September 9, our votes will go to his candidate. Whoever reaches early, the four of us will vote in their favor,” KTR stated.
KTR emphasized that the BRS is still an autonomous regional party, “We are not part of the INDIA alliance or the NDA, we don’t have any masters in Delhi.” He also added that the farmers of Telangana are experiencing unparalleled suffering from the shortages of urea, blaming the Congress-led state government for “criminal negligence” and black marketing.
The INDIA alliance has made its Vice-Presidential candidate a former Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, and the NDA has proposed CP Radhakrishnan, a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu and present Governor of Maharashtra.
KTR also made a dig at Telangana Congress leader CM Revanth Reddy, asking him to address the concerns of farmers first before looking for political assistance from BRS. He attacked Congress for supposedly misleading backward classes (BCs) on reservations and broken promises, including Rs 20,000 crore of benefits every year.
On poll reforms, KTR stuck to the BRS demand for the restoration of paper ballots from Bihar, emphasizing the party’s stand on an autonomous approach to democratic processes.
India bloc and NDA have announced their Vice President candidates for the much awaited election which nation looks for. BJP’s CP Radhakrishnan is former MP from Coimbatore and current governor of Maharashtra. Whereas B. Sudershan Reddy is a retired Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
