The video, shared on X by user @HustleBitch_, features TikTok creator @tarawoodcox11 showing what she calls a “life-saving” travel hack. Standing beside a hotel coffee machine, she explains the method for situations when travelers realize they have packed insufficient underwear.
Placing her underwear in the coffee machine where coffee grounds are usually placed, she hits the brew button, letting boiling water run through the garment. She finishes by drying it with a hair dryer.
“I did not realize how many people already knew about this hack. I learned it years ago from a friend who was a flight attendant,” the influencer says in the clip.
The video quickly went viral, drawing criticism from travelers and social media users alike. Many expressed concern over hygiene and hotel cleanliness.
One user commented, “Seriously, that’s beyond gross! Thinking about all the times I’ve trusted those hotel coffee makers makes my skin crawl.”
Another wrote, “This hack is disgusting and selfish. Hotel coffee makers are rarely deep-cleaned between guests. Just wash in the sink and hang to dry-it’s much safer.”
Several others called the method unsafe and inappropriate, highlighting the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses to future guests.
The consensus among online viewers was clear: just because something can be done doesn’t mean it should. Social media erupted with users labeling the hack as unhygienic, unsafe, and “absolutely disgusting.”
