Ready for some gangster glam and rap-powered rage? Because Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar just dropped a firecracker in Lucknow, and no, it’s not a Diwali teaser, it’s the much-hyped song launch from their upcoming thriller Maalik! The duo made a smashing entry, spilling behind-the-scenes secrets and serving sizzling chemistry that could light up the entire Gomti Nagar skyline. The track, “Raaj Karega Maalik,” features MTV Hustle champ MC Square belting bars with pure swagger, while Rajkummar roars as a gangster gunning for political supremacy. Manushi, glowing with excitement, confessed: “The character is very beautiful… I had a lot of pressure. I had a lot of fun while shooting.” Add Sachin-Jigar’s bass-thumping beats and a dancefloor set on fire, and you’ve got yourself a desi mafia anthem. This isn’t just a song drop, it’s a full-blown power play preview, and it’s giving guns, grit, and glory!
The team released “Raaj Karega Maalik,” an adrenaline-pumping track composed by Sachin-Jigar and sung by Akasa, with a fire rap verse by MC Square. The music video features Rajkummar’s raw intensity and Manushi’s graceful performance. MC Square’s rap and Rajkummar’s expressions align perfectly, making it a high-voltage sequence. On Instagram, the film’s banner Tips shared the song, calling it a reflection of Rajkummar’s gangster persona. With beats that match bullets, the song telegraphs the film’s gritty tone and sets expectations high for the Maalik experience.
In Maalik, Rajkummar portrays a menacing gangster driven by political power and fame. He switches from comedy hits like Stree to gritty intensity, blazing a new trail. Manushi, starring opposite him, says she relished the challenge: “I always wanted to work in a project where I get to learn a lot and get to try something new.” The cast includes Saurabh Shukla and Saurabh Sachdeva, set in 1980s Allahabad. Maalik tells a hard-hitting tale of ambition, power, survival, guns, greed, and loyalty, giving audiences a raw slice of retro crime drama that mixes nostalgia with nerve.
The makers dropped the Maalik trailer recently, showing Rajkummar firing rounds from the house’s entrance and eliminating goons like a one-man army. Guns become Rajkummar’s silent partner in this gritty portrait of power. With his rugged appearance and intense action moves, he embodies a character worlds apart from his earlier comic personas. The trailer cements Maalik’s appeal to fans of high-octane crime sagas and sets the stage for a July curtain-raiser.
Produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani under Tips Films and Northern Lights Films, Maalik marches into theatres on July 11, 2025. With its song, trailer, and buzz, it positions itself as a bold and edgy Bollywood entry. Audiences can expect an intense narrative, unforgettable dialogues, hard-hitting performances, and raw authenticity that mirror the retro grit of 1980s crime India—entirely powered by Maalik.
