Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar has been an inspiration to all due to his age defying physique and his discipline. In a recent no-holds barred interview he has stated the small but mighty secrets to his health. His main rule, according to him, is to eat dinner by 6.30 p.m. this is a habit that he has continued years down the line. According to Akshay Kumar, this will ensure that the stomach gets enough time to digest food before one sleep so that the body can be fully rested.

He highlighted the fact that late night meals do not give the digesting system the needed rest, something he theorized to be the cause of most diseases. This straight-forward philosophy which is based on good common sense and discipline is what he attributes his energy and agility to the lasting years of his life.

The Power of Timely Meals

The habit of having dinner at an early hour is a time-restricted eating popular health trend that is in line with the circadian rhythm of the human body. Having his final meal at 6.30 pm, the limit between dinner and breakfast will be more than 12 hours, providing the body with an extended dietary fast.

This ensures best digestion, metabolism and sleep. He manages to describe this idea in a way which is very easy to relate to, as he likens it to another part of the body which requires rest, that of the stomach. He thinks what makes all the difference is this change of time, with no elaborate scheme of diet at all.

A Weekly Reset: The Monday Fast

Further to his regulated schedule, Akshay Kumar also revealed that he fasts on Mondays. He told that, on Sundays, his final meal is at night and the next meal is on Tuesday morning. It is an attempt to give his body a complete reset one week out of each month. Fasting, he says, aids the body in detoxification, enhances self-control, and gives the digestive system a break. 

This is a testimony to his faith in natural and holistic remedies rather than artificial feature and cut-offs. This no-nonsense, but still effective, routine is a strong reminder that to get fit, it is important to be disciplined and to be able to listen to oneself.
