Zepto Delivery Rider Killed: A 25-year-old delivery executive lost his life after a speeding car allegedly rammed his electric scooty near the Subhash Nagar Metro Station in west Delhi in the early hours of Saturday, police said. The victim, identified as Hem Shankar, was on duty at the time of the accident.

Crash Near Subhash Nagar Metro Station

According to Delhi Police, a PCR call reporting a road accident involving an injured person was received at Tilak Nagar police station at around 3.26 am. A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene near the Subhash Nagar Metro red light on Najafgarh Road, towards Rajouri Garden.

When officers reached the spot, they found both the damaged electric scooty and the car involved in the collision. Hem Shankar had already been taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital by the time police arrived. Doctors later declared him brought dead.

Police said Shankar was employed as a delivery rider with Zepto and was riding his electric two-wheeler when the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses Allege Drunk Driving

Preliminary investigation and eyewitness accounts suggest that a Hyundai Verna struck the scooty from behind. Some witnesses claimed that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

They also alleged that the driver attempted to flee the scene after the collision, but was stopped. The accused has been identified as Mohit Kumar, 27, a resident of Najafgarh who works as a contractor with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Accused Arrested, FIR Registered

Police have taken the accused into custody and seized the Hyundai Verna involved in the accident. A case has been registered at Tilak Nagar police station under relevant sections of the law. Officials said further legal proceedings are underway, and the investigation is continuing to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal crash.
