Sanju Samson stamped authority with the bat in the on-going Vijay Hazare Trophy after notching up a hundred for Kerala against Jharkhand in his return to List A format after two years. The right-handed batter who opened the innings with Rohan Kunnummal stitched a partnership of 212 runs for the first wicket.
Kerala were handed a target of 312 by Jharkhand. The two openers provided a perfect start to the chase with Rohan being the second centurion.
This is Sanju’s second consecutive hundred in List A format. He previously played against South Africa in 2023 and scored a ton. The right-handed batter was eventually trapped in front of the stumps by Shubham Kumar Singh for 101 off 95.
Earlier, Jharkhand rode on a brilliant century from Kumar Kushagra who eventually struck an unbeaten 143 off 137 to post 311/7. Regular skipper and wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan also returned to the side and scored 21 off 21 while Anukul Roy who was in an incredible form in the SMAT chipped in with 72 off 72.
