
Volkswagen Taigun facelift launched, credit: X
Berlin based Automobile manufacturing company Volkswagen has introduced the facelift variant of Taigun. The SUV is launched with a mix of design revisions, features upgrades, and new vibrant shades. The SUV has been launched in six trims, nine colours, and a new eight-speed gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI petrol.
In terms of exterior, the facelift variant features a revised fascia inspired by Volkswagen’s flagship Tayron R-Line SUV, featuring an illuminated VW badge and new LED headlamps connected by a light bar. The grille is slimmer than the previous generation model, and the bumper has been redesigned with horizontal slats. The GT variants feature blacked-out elements consisting of grille accents, alloy wheels, and exterior trims with GT branding.
The overall silhouette of the car remains unchanged with the only notable update being a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels whereas on the rear profile, the facelift variant of Taigun has got an illuminated logo, updated LED tail-lamps with sequential turn indicators and a revised bumper, giving it a more modern look.
In terms of interior and cabin, the SUV retains the same dashboard layout but gets updated trims and colours with a two-tone finish, offering six different upholstery options, relying on the variant. The company has installed a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and an updated 10.1-inch infotainment system running slicker software with updated graphics and AI-based integration, enabling access to real-time information, along with enhanced voice commands and hands-free operation of in-car functions.
The company has added a new panoramic sunroof with the Taigun facelift. The SUV also offers features such as powered and ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, and wireless charging.
In terms of safety, the SUV consists of 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, electronic differential lock, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (IRVM), among others. The facelift also carries its 5-star safety rating from the outgoing model.
The Taigun facelift offers the same turbo-petrol engine options which consists of 1.0-litre TSI engine generating 115hp and 178Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre TSI engine producing 150hp and 250Nm of torque.
The major update in the engine is the introduction of a new 8-speed torque converter for automatic gearbox for the 1.0 TSI engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit, while the 6-speed manual option continues. The 1.5 TSI engine continues to be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch (DSG) automatic gearbox. The company has also added a rear disc brake to the 1.5 TSI model.
The company also claims that it has improved fuel efficiency by 5.8 per cent for the 1.0 TSI engine. Taigun facelift buyers also get a standard 4 year/ 1,00,000km warranty and a 4 year of roadside assistance, as well as three free services. The starting ex-showroom price of the newly launched facelift is Rs 12 lakh.
