The Indian Army has released the Agniveer Recruitment 2026 notification on its official website, joinindianarmy.nic.in, announcing over 25,000 vacancies across multiple categories under the Agnipath scheme. The nationwide recruitment drive will engage selected candidates for a four-year tenure.
Online registrations opened on February 13, 2026, and will remain active until April 1, 2026.
According to the official notification, vacancies have been advertised for the following posts:
General Duty (GD)
Technical
Clerk/Storekeeper Technical
Tradesman
Soldier Pharma
Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant
Women Military Police
The eligibility criteria vary depending on the post. Educational qualifications range from Class 8 pass and Class 12 pass to graduation-level qualifications.
Applicants must be between 17.5 years and 21 years of age to be eligible.
The minimum physical requirements prescribed for candidates include:
Height: 170 cm
Chest: 77 cm (unexpanded) with 5 cm expansion
A processing fee of Rs. 250 is applicable for all categories. The payment must be made online through the SBI portal using net banking, credit card, or debit card. The fee, once paid, is non-refundable.
The recruitment process will be conducted in three stages:
Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Recruitment Rally
Document Verification
The online examination, also referred to as the Common Entrance Examination (CEE), will include subjects such as General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, and General English, depending on the specific post applied for.
For General Duty (GD) posts, the question paper will consist of 50 questions carrying 100 marks. For Technical and Clerk/Storekeeper posts, candidates will face 50 questions worth 200 marks, with subjects varying as per the role.
Candidates who qualify in the CBT will proceed to the recruitment rally stage. The rally will include:
1.6 km run
Pull-ups
9 ft ditch
Zig-zag balance
Physical measurement examination
Medical examination
Selected candidates will receive a structured monthly salary beginning at Rs. 30,000 in the first year. The salary will increase by Rs. 5,000 each year, reaching Rs. 40,000 in the fourth year.
After a mandatory 30 per cent contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund — which will be matched annually by the Government of India — the in-hand salary will range from Rs. 21,000 in the first year to Rs. 28,000 in the fourth year.
