Malayalam actress Rini Ann George
Malayalam actress Rini Ann George came forward on Wednesday, accusing a well-known youth leader from a major political party of sending her inappropriate messages and inviting her to a five-star hotel.
Speaking to the media, Rini said she’d warned the man multiple times and even took her concerns to senior party officials, but nothing changed. She refused to name him or his party, no matter how many times reporters tried to get it out of her.
This whole issue blew up after a recent viral online interview, where she aired her allegations publicly for the first time.
According to Rini, the politician first contacted her on social media about three years ago, and things got creepy. The actress says the messages were out of line from the start.
It didn’t stop at texts either. Rini claims he offered to book her a room at a fancy hotel and asked her to come over.
What’s worse, Rini says party bigwigs just brushed off her complaints. The guy kept getting promoted, despite everything she’d reported. “Honestly, the image I had of these people is gone,” she said, adding that the leader kept climbing the ranks even after she spoke up.
When she threatened to escalate her complaint, the politician pretty much shrugged it off, she says. His response? “Go ahead, tell whoever you want… who cares?” He even threw back a question about what happened to other politicians accused of sexual harassment.
As for taking official action, Rini says she’s not filing a formal complaint. She cited fears for her safety and said she doesn’t trust the justice system to protect her. Also, she said she didn’t want to embarrass the party.
Her main reason for speaking out, she explained, was to support other women who’ve allegedly faced similar harassment from this leader.
“I wasn’t physically assaulted; it was just the messages. But some of my friends told me that other women have faced much worse, so I’m speaking up for them,” Rini shared, calling on politicians to act with some basic decency.
