Bomb Scare In Pune: IED-Like Object Found Near Hospital. What Happened Next

On Wednesday evening, panic spread in parts of Pune, after a suspicious bomb-like object was found in a hospital in the Hadapsar area. The discovery led to a major police operation, with the bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot.

Where Was The Object Found?

Panic spread after a suspicious object was found near a toilet inside the Usha Kiran Hospital in Kamdhenu Estate in Hadapsar. On Wednesday, around 9 pm, police received information about an IED found in the hospital. Soon after, several police teams and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the spot and started checking the area.

Police Launch Investigation Into Suspicious Object

Police have also started an investigation to find out who kept the object and what the motive may have been.

“The police teams restricted access to the area upon reaching the site. The suspected object was secured by the BDDS and was taken to an open space at the Gliding Centre in Hadapsar. The device was thoroughly examined. It was then neutralised using a controlled explosion from a distance,” an officer said.

Later, senior Pune police officers, including top officials, visited the hospital and spoke to the staff as part of the investigation. “A thorough examination of CCTV cameras inside and outside the hospital is being conducted to probe who placed the device. Some staff members are being questioned,” an officer added.
