Punjab Murder: A routine Saturday evening, February 21, turned violent in a residential pocket of Punjab’s Tarn Taran district when an altercation spiralled into gunfire, leading to serious injuries to a woman. At around 4.30 pm, CCTV footage shows a man and a woman travelling on a scooter when their way was abruptly blocked by another two-wheeler.
The biker, wearing a red T-shirt and later identified by police as Karan, stepped off and confronted the couple riding the scooter.

The footage captures Karan slapping the victim before starting a full-fledged physical assault. The woman, identified as Ruby Mehra, attempted to intervene but was unable to stop the attack.
As the man tried to break free, the accused continued to beat him. Moments later, Ruby tried to run from the scene. Karan allegedly chased her, pulled out a firearm and shot her in the head at close range.
She is seen collapsing on the road as the accused fires multiple rounds before escaping on his scooter.
Punjab Murder: Tarn Taran Woman Was Married A Few Months Back
Ruby Mehra, who was married a few months ago, remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Amritsar. Many vehicles passed the scene of crime but no one intervened, the CCTV video showed.

According to the preliminary investigation by Tarn Taran police, it came to the surface that both the attacker and the victim lived in the same Patti city’s Garden Colony of Tarn Taran and knew each other.
The police are treating it as a case of obsession gone wrong, several agency reports suggested.
“Karan had been harassing Ruby even before her wedding. It appears he could not tolerate her marriage and fired several shots at her on Saturday,” a police official said as quoted by the NDTV.
At the time of writing this news, the attacker was still absconding, and police are searching for him.
