Raghav Chadha: The announcement caused his Instagram following to decline sharply according to social media data which showed a 24 hour drop in his followers. The 37 year old MP’s follower count reportedly fell from around 14.6 million on Friday to nearly 13.5 million by Saturday afternoon-the loss achieved close to one million followers, according to India Today report. Political observers suggest that much of this backlash is being driven by Gen Z users who had previously viewed Chadha as a relatable political voice. Reports of a coordinated ‘unfollow’ trend circulating online further highlight the scale and speed of the digital reaction.

Raghav Chadha: Chadha had established strong ties with younger voters through his consistent presentation of common problems which he discussed in Parliament. His focus on such topics helped him stand out in mainstream politics and resonate with a digitally engaged audience. His abrupt change of political affiliation has now created a temporary break in their relationship which people show through their online posts that contain both astonishment and critical remarks and letdown.
